Architectural Computation

This year, students have engaged with a wide range of digital media and tools to develop their projects through studio modules, workshops and lectures. The taught modules and thesis produced research projects that explore a range of topics from the generation of architectural forms using artificial intelligence, developing interaction modalities coupled with automation to enhance eye-gaze based mobile robot teleoportation, spatial navigation through the use of VR immersive experience, the development of an archival system for temporal and geo-based 3D scans using deep learning and XR, exploring players level of engagement in first-person shooter VR games, the effect of colours on spatial navigation, and spatial navigation through sound based AR. Exploring the level of awareness of and interaction with thermal imaging projection, extending a technique for trajectory outlier detection, adapting the wave function collapse algorithm to architectural design configurators, analysis of the correlation of choice and random walks with the changes in spatial structure, the creation of a push button tool for ariel robotic construction.
